Kayaking near Ocala on the beautiful Silver River, May 15, 2015

Mark came up from South Florida in search of the wildlife and we were glad to oblige. We set off up the Silver River and not long after that Mother Nature obliged us both. We saw Little Blue Herons in the adult blue and immature white phase, a Moorhen with 5 chicks, Limpkins, Black Crowned Night Herons, Green Herons and Great Blues. There were Cormorants, Pileated Woodpeckers and a Momma Wood Duck with youngsters too. A female Anhinga dropped a bomb for us, the yellow Prothonotary Warblers are out and there were lots of sunning Turtles. We caught a glimpse of a few Brown Water Snakes, watched a large Snapping Turtle come up for a breath right between our kayaks and there was a tiny tike Turtle sitting on a log, brand new to this world. The Otter eluded us today but that means there is always next time.
