Paddling the Silver River December 4th, 2014

With the rest of the Upper Northeast shoveling snow Tom, Brian, Everett, Rita and I paddled the Silver River in our t-shirts... life's rough ;-). Anhingas, White Ibis, Great Egrets, Wood Storks, Limpkins, Little Blue Herons, Moorhens, Pied-billed Grebes, Cormorants and Great Blue Herons all decorated the river with the colors of the wild. There were tons of Red-bellied and Yellow-bellied Slider Turtles out sunning and we also found a Momma Alligator with new itty bitty babies all piled up and sticking close together. Coming up on the Monkeys is always a special treat and if you see 1 there are usually 20. Today we got to see the 20 and they are like staring at a group of naked humans, they do some funny stuff! The Fall colors of the Maples, Cypress, Ash and Hickory trees are very evident now and on the way back 3 River Otters popped their heads up as if to say Good-bye, See ya next time! It was beautiful weather, high 70's with a little bit of a breeze and it's always nice to spend time with Friends and Family on the river.
